Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson insists he wants another boss to surpass his astonishing haul of silverware at Old Trafford.
The Scot oversaw the arrival of 38 trophies in his 27 years in charge of United before retiring in 2013 and, having also won 11 more competitions during his preceding career in Scotland, Ferguson is the most successful manager in British football history.
But Ferguson insisted he wanted to see his United record eclipsed, telling the Sunday People: "We had a wonderful run of success when I was here and we won a lot of trophies.
"But I really hope someone comes along and breaks my record here, I really do.
"I'd like to see another United manager come in and win 45 trophies in 25 years. Nothing would make me happier.
"Why? Because it's a food chain at this club. First there was the great Sir Matt Busby (who rebuilt United in the years after the Second World War and led the club to its first European Cup triumph in 1968) and then there was me.
"Now I'd love someone else to come in and establish a long run of success because that's what this club is all about."
United, now under manager Louis van Gaal, are away to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
This season is unlikely to yield a first Old Trafford trophy for the Dutch boss given that in the race for the English title, now the only prize on offer to United in 2014/15, van Gaal's men are currently 11 points behind leaders Chelsea with five games to play.
