Germany striker Miroslav Klose has admitted that Euro 2012 holds extra significance for him on a personal level because the tournament is being co-hosted by his native Poland. The Lazio attacker was born to an ethnic German father and Polish mother but the family took up residence in Kusel when he was a small boy. Klose does not regret his decision to represent his adopted nation at international level but admitted that he has not lost touch with his roots. “Poland remains in my heart and leaving it was an unforgettable moment,\" the 33-year-old told WeltOnline. \"As soon as my family got to Germany [in 1985], we decided to start again from scratch.” Klose is currently plying his trade in Italy, having left Bayern Munich for Lazio last summer, after his contract with the Bundesliga giants expired. The prolific forward freely admits that it was wrenching to depart the Allianz Arena after four years in Bavaria but he insists that he is loving lifein Rome. “Leaving Bayern Munich was certainly like leaving my family, but I have to say coming to Lazio I found another family here,” Klose continued. “I often have to disguise myself when I go out in the streets of Rome so the fans don’t recognise me, as they are rather passionate. “I’ve found a very professional atmosphere that is also relaxed and calm, without excessive pressure.” Klose enjoyed a fine debut season in Serie A, scoring 13 goals for the Italian club.
