Internacional missed the opportunity to go second in the Campeonato standings as they were thrashed 5-0 at lowly Chapecoense.
Diones and Leandro gave the hosts a 2-0 lead in the first half, and both scored again after the interval to further extend Chapecoense's advantage.
Internacional's miserable evening was made all the worse by goalkeeper Dida's 86th-minute dismissal, before Camilo completed the rout, scoring Chapecoense's fifth with one minute remaining.
Elsewhere, Santos edged to a 1-0 victory over Bahia thanks to Leandro Damiao's first-half strike, while Fluminense and Atletico Mineiro played out a goalless draw.
