Giuseppe Sannino has been re-appointed as Palermo's head coach, the club have announced. In club president Maurizio Zamparini's fifth managerial appointment of the season, Sannino replaces Gian Piero Gasperini just six months after himself being sacked three games into the campaign. A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "Palermo Football Club announce they have re-entrusted the technical guidance of the first team to Giuseppe Sannino. The coach will this afternoon take his first weekly training session." The Napoli-born coach's previous spell at the Stadio Renzo Barbera ended when he was sacked on September 16. He was replaced by Gasperini, who claimed three wins from 20 games to leave the Sicilians in 19th place upon his original departure, with UEFA Cup-winning coach Alberto Malesani appointed the next day. Malesani could not improve Palermo's fortunes, however, with three points from three draws in a 19-day reign leaving the Rosanero bottom of the table. That ushered in the fleeting return of Gasperini, who yesterday departed by mutual consent only 15 days and two games after returning to the hotseat. Palermo are currently tied for last place with Pescara on 21 points, five from safety, and Zamparini told the Corriere dello Sport yesterday: "We won't be able to save ourselves now, it's folly to think we can do it. We would need a lot of luck and for our players to act as if they're men rather than baby food. I don't know what they are made of." The first task for Sannino to tackle is a trip to face third-placed AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday. Source : FIFA
