Jets edge Sydney, Roar thrash Victory

Emile Heskey scored his first A-League goal as Newcastle Jets won 3-2 at Sydney FC. The former England forward netted in the 41st minute to put the Jets 2-1 in front at the break. Sydney striker Alessandro Del Piero had earlier cancelled out Ryan Griffiths\' opener. Craig Goodwin put Newcastle 3-1 up before Blake Powell pulled another one back for the hosts. Roar run riot Brisbane Roar hammered Melbourne Victory 5-0, with Besart Berisha on target twice.
