Madrid - Arabstoday
Goal.com picks the best in show from the return fixtures of the last-eight ties in Europe\'s prestigious club competition .The Champions League quarter-finals concluded with several players turning in star performances to help their sides into the last four. Goal.com has analysed their displays and we bring you the Best XI from the second leg of the last eight that resulted in Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona progressing.Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer retains his place in our Team of the Round (TOTR) from the first-leg. The Germany international put a stop to any hope Olympique de Marseille may have had with two early saves on Loic Remy and Jeremy Morel at the Allianz Arena. The back line contains two very experienced campaigners and two blossoming youngsters. Dani Alves had a field day down the right flank against AC Milan, his runs adding width to the Blaugrana attack and causing real problems for the Italians. It\'s no coincidence Chelsea looked far more susceptible at the back after John Terry came off injured with 30 minutes remaining against Benfica. The England centre-back was solid throughout and even cleared an Oscar Cardozo effort off the line.Teenager Raphael Varane looks a hot prospect for Real Madrid and took his chance to impress in the Spanish giants\' 5-2 victory over APOEL. The Frenchman was sturdy when called upon and was timely in his tackles, while also posed a threat at the other end. David Alaba took a page out of Dani Alves\' book and played an attacking role from his left-back position as one powerful run set up the second goal for Bayern, who eased to a 2-0 victory over Marseille once again.Jose Mourinho\'s high-priced Madrid stars certainly lived up to their worth. The world\'s most expensive footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, struck twice, once from close range and the other in stunning fashion: a free kick that found the back of the net from an extremely difficult angle. His team-mate Kaka, who is in our Best XI for the third consecutive time -  and fourth overall - scored with a strike that exhibited all his skill and technique as he curled a spectacular effort from outside the box into the top far corner. He also brought the ball forward with incredible effectiveness.Barcelona\'s win over Milan may have had its share of controversy, but there was nothing contentious about the performance of Andres Iniesta, who seems to have a knack for scoring big goals. The playmaker\'s ability to combine with his team-mates and maintain possession was near perfect, but his highlight was certainly taking advantage of Lionel Messi\'s deflected effort to convert from close range and put a semi-final berth firmly in Barca\'s hands. Out on the wing, Ribery put the sword to his former club Marseille. The 28-year-old seemed like a man possessed as he took on the whole of the OM defence to set up Ivica Olic\'s opener and created many openings by drifting inside.Moving up front, while Messi may have scored two penalties, Barca coach Pep Guardiola will be most pleased with the contribution of Isaac Cuenca. The young forward embarrassed Luca Antonini and notably threaded his passes through Milan\'s back four on a few occasions, showing some fine touches and great vision. Like Cuenca, Olic does not get many first-team opportunities, but the Croatian showed his keen sense of positioning and awareness of the goal with two poachers\' finish when he started in place of Mario Gomez.
