Vincent Kompany finished like the Barclays Premier League season like a tower of power. He stood tall and dignified in a season marred by racial abuse and at times, vile taunts. He was quoted in The Sun as saying, “I’m looking forward to this game. If we can win it would cap the season for me. “I know I won’t be going to the Euros but we have such high ambitions for the World Cup. “This is an important start for us preparing.”
