Vincent Kompany finished like the Barclays Premier League season like a tower of power. He stood tall and dignified in a season marred by racial abuse and at times, vile taunts. He commanded a defence that created a fortress out of the Etihad stadium in Manchester. And all this was even before he scored the goal that changed the English Premier League forever. And that was even before he gave Manchester City their first title since 1968, ending years of cross-town domination from bitter rivals Manchester United. Now, Kompany is coming back. This time to destroy England’s preparation for the Euros. Kompany will be at the heart of a Belgium team who England will play in a key friendly before their Euro dream kicks off this month. He was quoted in The Sun as saying, “I’m looking forward to this game. If we can win it would cap the season for me. “I know I won’t be going to the Euros but we have such high ambitions for the World Cup. “This is an important start for us preparing.”
