Al Nasr target Fabrizio Miccoli has dashed hopes of a move to Dubai, after news emerged on Saturday that the striker had changed his mind about leaving Serie A side Palermo. Miccoli, 32, was due to be reunited with his old Palermo coach Walter Zenga and teammate Mark Bresciano in the UAE at the end of his contract in Italy this month. Negotiations surrounding a possible stay are now said to be “extremely positive”, according to his agent Francesco Caliandro and the Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini. The development leaves league runners-up Al Nasr still in search of a replacement for outgoing striker Luca Toni. Caliandro told Stadionews after recent talks: “The meeting was extremely positive. Fabrizio clarified come issues with the president and all doubts are now cleared. There is no surprise contract from Arab countries. “He’s still a great player and has always demonstrated his love and loyalty to the fans. He spoke with Zamparini. There is now a new coach [Giuseppe Sannino], a new direction, and in my opinion and as the president himself evaluated: Fabrizio is a Palermo player. He has not received any offer from Dubai,” said Caliandro.Zamparini said: “We’ve adjourned our meeting with Miccoli for 10 days. I was pleased to hear he wants to stay at Palermo, if possible. Matias Silvestre wants to leave, so did Miccoli at first, but he has changed his mind and so we’ll see what happens.”from gulf news.
