London - Arabstoday

The Croatian was the subject of interest from the Blues last summer but remained at White Hart Lane, where his boss believes he will stay, as sides prepare to clash on Thursday.Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that there is “not a chance” that Luka Modric will move to Chelsea in the January transfer window. The Blues’ interest in the Croatian midfielder was the subject of one of the summer’s longest-running sagas, with Spurs holding firm to keep their playmaker, and the boss believes that his player is now settled again at White Hart Lane.“No matter what Chelsea offer he isn’t going, not a chance,” Redknapp told reporters ahead of the two sides’ Premier League clash on Thursday.“The chairman has said he is not moving. No one is leaving here that we don\'t want to get rid of.“We\'re not selling anyone we don\'t to sell, for sure. He\'s said that.” The Spurs coach admitted that he is unsure of the progress in negotiations with the Croatian over a new contract but is confident that Modric will be keen to stay at White Hart Lane.“I don’t know where they’re at on negotiations for a new contract,” he added.“I’m sure that will get sorted out and get resolved.“He’s happy here, he’s not a problem and he’s playing fantastic football. So I don’t see there being a problem with Luka.“I don\'t expect Luka to want to go anywhere.” Redknapp had caused a stir during the summer transfer saga when he admitted that he was not sure that Tottenham could match Modric’s ambitions, and the 64-year-old defended his views.“I put myself in a position where I could have caused myself a problem with the club, in all honesty, because I said what I felt,\" he continued.\"I came out and said I could understand where he was coming from. It’s difficult, isn’t it?“Let’s be honest, if you’re getting 35 grand a week and someone’s going to offer you 100, it’s still massive, isn’t it?“You’re going to secure your future forever. It’s difficult to turn that down.“But thankfully he’s here. The chairman came out and I’m with him all the way now. We’ve got to keep Luka.”The ex-Portsmouth manager also criticised Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas for hitting out at television pundit Gary Neville over comments the former Manchester United defender made about David Luiz.“You can\'t have the praise one minute and then not like it when you get a bit of criticism,” Redknapp declared.“You\'ve got to take it all or not at all. You can\'t just take the stuff when they say how good you are and what a wonderful coach you are. You just have to get on with it.“Gary Neville gets paid to have an opinion, doesn\'t he?”Tottenham hold a two-point advantage over Chelsea going into Thursday night’s match at White Hart Lane.
