Ghanaian international forward Abdul Majeed Waris has joined Valenciennes on loan from Spartak Moscow until the end of the season, the French Ligue 1 club announced on Thursday. The 22-year-old was top scorer in the Swedish top flight in 2012 with Hacken, netting 23 goals in 29 games, before moving to Russia. Having featured for the Black Stars in their decisive FIFA World Cup™ qualifying play-off win against Egypt in November, he is looking to impress enough in France to book his place in the Ghana squad for the finals in Brazil. Valenciennes, who are three points adrift of safety in Ligue 1, are also close to signing the Algerian international defender Carl Medjani on loan from Greek champions Olympiakos after he trained with the team on Thursday.
