Sports like rallying, endurance and camel racing, which enjoy a large following in the UAE, could become a lot more competitive, safer and cleaner in the future - thanks to the pioneering efforts of budding Emirati entrepreneur Abdulla Ebrahim Al Shamsi.

Working under the banner of the Almuraqeb Company, Al Shamsi has invented several smart devices and apps that will significantly benefit and enhance these sports.

Licensed under the brandname of ‘Tijwal', the hardware devices are embedded with locally created software that are exclusively manufactured in the UAE by Almuraqeb.

Explaining how the Tijwal project came into existence, 20-year-old Al Shamsi said: "Sports like rallying, endurance and camel racing are very popular and close to the heart of Emiratis. However, like most other sports including football and tennis, they are not free from controversy, or the lack of development.

"I became aware of this and decided to make things easier for those who participate in these sport and also those who manage and carry out official duties.” he added.

Asked about the specific roles of the devices, Al Shamsi said: "The Tijwal devices bring greater sophistication to each of the sport in terms of tracking the cars or horses, displaying relevant information, developing the database and maintaining international specifications.

"Our goal is to participate in Expo 2020 and to launch the first international ‘Hijin' (camel) project, which we hope will pave the way for any organisation to adopt our project.”

Rallying, endurance and camel racing all employ a high level of technical support which opens up the market to people like Al Shamsi.

"We have been talking and working with officials in endurance, rallying, camel racing, the pigeon club, even tourism offices, safari organisers and schools about what we can offer in terms of technical support,” he said.

The Tijwal projects are jointly supported by Mohmmad Shiba Sl Sibousi (endurance), Mohammad Maeouf Al Hallamy (camel racing), Nabil Surour Al Shamsi (rallying) and Esmail Aymany (falonry).

"The response to our project has surpassed our expectations and we are looking forward making more progress in the field,” said Al Shamsi adding that a lot of hard work has gone into the endeavour by his whole team.

"We have put in many hours of work but the results are rewarding. At the end of the day, our devices make it easier and more entertaining for all those involved.”

Al Shamsi revealed that his goal was to participate in Expo 2020 by which time he hoped his project will have delivered the kind of service expected from it.
