Staged at Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall at the University of Bahrain Sakhir, the awarding ceremony involved more than 800 men and women athletes, administrators and coaches with exceptional achievements between 2015 and 2017.
The event was patronised by Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Environment, and Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation president, who presented cash prizes to the honorees.
Others present on this occasion include Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, BOC board members and representatives of national sports federations.
A short introductory film on Bahrain’s most outstanding achievements over the last three years was screened at the ceremony, followed by the opening remarks by Askar, who extended his gratitude to all Bahraini athletes for their efforts to raise Bahrain’s flag high in regional and international competitions.
“It gives us great honor to memorize the encouraging words from His Majesty the King, who showed pride for your giving and contributions to set Bahrain among the world’s leading nations in different sporting events,” he said.
“We are all proud and delighted for such an ideal environment that have here that helped us achieve what have been accomplished over the past years in different areas, and now we live this graceful moment that honors our efforts for this country”.
