Baseball: Oakland 20 Boston 2

Four RBI from Brandon Moss and a nine-run seventh inning Friday carried Oakland to its seventh consecutive victory -- a 20-2 crushing of Boston. The 20 runs were the most the Athletics had scored in a game in a dozen years. Oakland kept pace with Texas in the American League West, staying four games behind the division leaders and also remaining one game in front of Baltimore for the best wild card record in the AL. Moss doubled home a run in the second, an inning in which Josh Donald contributed a two-run homer. Another double by Moss in the third brought home a run and he then hit a two-run shot in the fifth to give the A\'s an 8-1 lead. Oakland added to the onslaught by sending 12 men to the plate in the seventh. Josh Reddick, who popped out to first base leading off the inning, hit a grand slam homer the second time he came up in the frame. George Kottaras then hit his second homer of the game, a two-run blast in the eighth. He also had a solo shot in the sixth and singled in two runs during the big seventh inning. Brandon McCarthy (8-5) got the win by going 6 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on eight hits without a walk. Boston starter Aaron Cook (3-8) lasted a mere 2 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits.
