Curt Schilling game firm items auctioned

The property of 38 Studios, the computer games company founded by former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, were auctioned off in Providence, R.I. Technology workers, professional resellers and fans of Schilling lined up early Tuesday at the company\'s former headquarters to take part in the auction of goods left by the company, the Providence Journal reported Wednesday. The first item, a sword used to create video game sound effects, went for $175 to Providence resident David Morsilli, who said, \"It will always serve as a reminder of this 38 Studios fiasco. Curt Schilling just didn\'t have a sense of how to run a company.\" The company was founded in 2006, received a $75 million loan from the Rhode Island Board of Economic Development, and laid off all its employees in May 2012 after an inability to make scheduled loan payments. The Boston Herald reported 2,000 items were sold in the auction, but a dollar figure of their value would not be available until later.
