Czechs pick Vujtek as national team coach
Vladimir Vujtek
Prague - Arab Today
The Czech ice-hockey federation said Thursday it had picked Vladimir Vujtek Sr. as the new national team coach replacing Vladimir Ruzicka, who resigned amid a bribery scandal earlier this month.
The 68-year-old Vujtek led the Slovak national team until the world championships in the Czech Republic in May, at which Slovakia failed to make it to the play-off stage.
Vujtek had guided Slovakia to a surprise silver from the world championships in 2012, a decade after winning two consecutive titles in the Russian-based Continental Hockey League with Torpedo Yaroslavl in 2002 and 2003.
Ruzicka stepped down on June 9 amid allegations that he had demanded and accepted bribes from players' parents when coaching Czech top-flight side Slavia Prague.
He has denied all the allegations.

Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
