Debut ski jump World Cup win for Prevc, veteran Kasai third

Slovenia's Peter Prevc notched up his first ever ski jump World Cup win at the 'flying ski' leg of the season at Tauplitz on Sunday. Runner-up to Japan's history-making veteran Noriaki Kasai on the Austrian slope 24 hours earlier, Prevc, 21, made it to the top of the podium with a total points tally of 369. Home hope Gregor Schlierenzauer, with 366.9 points, took second with Kasai (365.8) producing the longest jump at 201 metres to claim third. This has been a weekend to remember for the 41-year-old Kasai, who on Saturday became the oldest World Cup winner of all time. Switzerland's quadruple Olympic champion Simon Ammann led after the first jump but had to settle for fourth. Poland's Kamil Stoch, who finished ninth, retained the lead in the overall World Cup standings, but only by 11 points from Schlierenzauer. Source: AFP
