Guardiola gets the better of Vilanova in Barcelona charity clash

Assistant coach Vilanova, meanwhile, was able to call upon the services of defender Gerard Pique and playmaker Xavi. David Villa was also a part of the new coach\'s squad and although he was unable to play any part in the proceedings as he has yet to fully recover from the fractured tibia he suffered in January, the striker did partake in the \'sardana\', the traditional Catalan dance, at the end of the game. The highlight of the friendly encounter, though, was a stunning solo strike from goalkeeper Jose Pinto, who ran the length of the field before scoring. However, for those in attendance, the game was more about voicing their appreciation for Guardiola, Vilanova and the absent defender Eric Abidal, who is facing an indefinite spell on the sidelines as he recovers from a liver transplant.
