Carlo Janka looked like his old self going fastest in the downhill and then holding on in the slalom to win the first World Cup super-combined event of the season on Friday.
Storming to his second career World Cup win on home snow at Wengen's long, fast Luberhorn run, Janka clocked a total of 2 minutes 29.31 seconds, 1.31secs clear of Frenchman Victor Muffat-Jeandet and 1.38secs faster than Ivica Kostelic of Croatia.
"After four years it's just amazing. I always feel good at Wengen," said Janka, who claimed the downhill here in 2010.
"I feel good just being here, it always seems to work for me," added the 28-year-old Swiss skier, who won the world championship giant slalom in 2009, the same Olympic title in Vancouver and then the 2010 overall World Cup title.
"I've got my confidence back," insisted Janka, who has since suffered a four-year slump that began with heart problems.
Janka sits tenth in the overall standings, which are comfortably lead by Austria's Marcel Hirscher, with 836 points, ahead of Kjetil Jansrud of Norway (624).
The men's competition continues at Wengen on Saturday with the slalom followed by Sunday's downhill.
