NBA players reject latest offer

NBA players Monday rejected the latest offer from owners and said they would begin disbanding their union. NBA union head Billy Hunter and union President Derek Fisher announced the results following a meeting among player representatives to discuss the offer. The owners made the offer Thursday following two days of negotiations in a bid to end the labor dispute and save the 2011-12 season. Commissioner David Stern had hoped the NBA could salvage a 72-game season that could start Dec. 15. The 2011-12 82-game NBA season had been scheduled to open Nov. 1.
