Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew has labelled the noise that the West Brom supporters created during his first game in charge of the Baggies terrific, but insisted that he wants his side to give them reason to make the atmosphere even better, the Express and Star reports.

Pardew took charge of West Brom for the first time since being announced as Tony Pulis' successor last week when his old side, Crystal Palace visited The Hawthorns. The Baggies have not won a game since August in the Premier League and now find themselves in a fairly precarious position in the top flight, just outside the relegation zone. Nevertheless, the supporters managed to create an atmosphere that clearly stuck in Pardew's mind, but - after the goalless draw - he is hoping that future Baggies results give the fans reason to make the atmosphere even more memorable.

“In my first experience of the stadium as a home manager the noise was terrific at times,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star. “I am hoping that we can get a bit more atmosphere."“We need to help that in terms of delivering performances as good as (Saturday) and hopefully better.”

They may not have ended their winless run against Palace, but there were certainly signs on the pitch that Pardew is determined to implement a more attacking philosophy that should give West Brom a better chance of turning some of those draws into wins.It certainly appeared that much of the confidence that was lost during the final weeks of Pulis' tenure has returned, and the players are more determined than ever to turn their situation around.

West Brom will be hoping that they finally end their wait for three points when they travel to bottom side Swansea City on Saturday.
