Dutch rider Johnny Hoogerland was injured when he was hit by a car on Sunday while training for the Tour of the Mediterranean, his Vacansoleil-DCM team said. The 29-year-old was hit when the car turned into him on a slight downhill section of the road. \"He was taken to the hospital of Villajoyosa where they diagnosed some rib fractures and some injuries that require an extra examination on Monday,\" said a team statement. \"More information on the condition of the rider will follow on Monday.\" From AFP
