Tunisian parliamentarian Ammar Amrosseya said that corruption is considered the major threat facing the Tunisian government, saying that both corruption and extremism represent the threats that could undermine the Tunisian state during the coming period.
He added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that the Tunisian government works to pass laws aiming to support corruption, while they refused the Reconciliation Law which aims to eliminate corruption in the country during the current critical period.
He stressed that the current regime is dominated by the symbols of Tunisian former regime of President Zein Al Abedeen Bin Ali, saying that most of the presidential advisers were working with the former regime. He warned that the continuation of those people in their positions in the government could lead to a new uprising
He warned of the repercussions of the approach adopted by the Tunisian government in dealing with the protests and demonstrations, saying that the government should respect the right of Tunisian people to launch demonstrations and protests.
He warned that there is a real conspiracy being waged against the security services against the backdrop of the Tataouine state protests, blaming recognized religious parties and smugglers for what happened in the Tunisian state during the recent days.
The protesters again took control of the oil pumping station in Tunisian city of Tataouin, while another number of protesters turned to expel the security elements from the city after their failure to storm the headquarters of the state. They burned the security vehicles in response to the injury of a large number of protesters.
A protester died and several more were injured during clashes with police Monday in southern Tunisia, where tense protests over unemployment have gone on for weeks, a doctor at a local hospital said.
Regarding the current Gulf crisis, he said that the recent crisis exposed the Qatari involvement in supporting extremism, saying that the tiny state suffers from the decision taken by seven Arab countries to cut their diplomatic relation with the Qatari regime.
He added that the current division witnessed in the Arab arena will lead the Arab nation to major challenges, saying that the Arab countries will not be able to overcome any of its challenges without unity.
