Colon de Santa Fe took a major step towards the Copa Sudamericana last 16 as they beat fellow Argentinian side Racing Club 3-1 at home in the first leg of their second-round tie. Roberto Sensini\'s Colon team opened the scoring with an excellent solo strike from Lucas Mugni in the 46th minute. Gabriel Hauche equalised three minutes later, but Facundo Curuchet restored Colon\'s lead in the 58th minute and Gabriel Graciani added their third goal a minute from full-time. Colon manager Sensini said: \"We have a good lead, but nothing is defined yet. We showed that this squad, despite being young, can fight for important things.\" The second leg will be played at the Juan Domingo Peron stadium in Avellaneda next Thursday evening. Atletico Goianiense advanced to the international stage of a club tournament for the first time in their history after winning a penalty shoot-out to see off Figueirense. The teams drew 1-1 at the Orlando Scalpelli stadium in Florianopolis, after an identical result in the the first leg, and Goianiense won the shoot-out 4-2. Figueirense opened the scoring in the second leg with a long-range strike by Tulio shortly before half-time, but Gustavo headed visitors Goianiense level.
