Barcelona eye permanent deal for Brazilian defender Santos
defender Marlon Santos
Rio De Janeiro - ArabToday
Barcelona have begun negotiations with Brazil's Fluminense to secure a permanent deal for on-loan defender Marlon Santos, according to media reports.
The 21-year-old center-back is said to have impressed Barcelona coach Luis Enrique since joining the Catalan club in July on a one-year loan.
After a string of impressive performances for the Barcelona B team, Santos was promoted to the first-team squad last month and made his debut as a second-half substitute in the Blaugrana's 2-0 away victory over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona are hoping to secure Santos on a long-term contract for two million euros, Globo Esporte reported.
A product of Vasco da Gama's youth academy, Marlon joined Fluminense in 2013 and made 69 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro club. He has represented Brazil at U-20 and U-23 level.

Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
