Blatter expresses sympathy over Munich tragedy

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to the Olympic Committee of Israel President to express his “deepest sympathy” on the 40th anniversary of the tragic murders of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Games. “I was there in person in Munich when I was working in sports timing and was also present at the memorial service at the Olympic Stadium,” Blatter told Zvica Vershaviak. “On this most solemn of occasions, I would like to join the Olympic and sporting movement in commemorating the 11 victims of 5 September 1972.\" From : Fifa
