One of the most inspirational figures in history hit the grand old age of 94 today, and FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter was sure to pass on his best wishes to Nelson Mandela. “Many congratulations on your 94th birthday – a day which has become one of celebration across South Africa and the world in recognition of your fight against injustice and inequality,” Blatter wrote in a letter to the former anti-apartheid activist and South Africa President. “I wish you a wonderful day in the company of your family and friends. The FIFA President went on to praise his good friend for the role he played in the hosting of the last FIFA World Cup™, which unfolded two years ago and proved an almighty success for South Africa, Africa and the world: “The World Cup in South Africa was a celebration of Africa’s humanity; today is a celebration of your humanity and all that you have done – and continue to do – for your country.”
