England may be the birthplace of football, but Brazil is without doubt where the game was honed to perfection. Pele played a large part in that and now youngsters in Sao Paulo are eager to follow in his footsteps. Despite being one of the best players ever to grace a football pitch, Pele has never forgotten his roots and even today he remembers those less fortunate than himself. It is little wonder, as the former world champion grew up in a poor Sao Paulo suburb and cleaned shoes as a child in order to support his parents. Approximately 100 kilometres away from Pele’s hometown, the EPROCAD football school trains children and adolescents from the surrounding area and offers them fresh hope. FIFA
