In our many interviews with FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Finalists, former champions and live event winners we keep hearing the word 'pressure' when we ask about what it takes to win the world’s largest gaming tournament. When it comes to pressure, no one understands the word better than defending FIFA Interactive World Cup champion Francisco Cruz. With USD 20,000 in prize money, a trip to the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala and the FIFA World Cup title on the line, the Grand Final event is exciting, tense and dramatic. It's a tournament in which a stroke of luck or a moment of genius could be the difference between winning it all or going home empty-handed. During his visit to the most recent FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala, Francisco Cruz was able to meet one of the most successful club managers of all time, Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson. The Manchester United manager has experienced many special moments and seems to have mastered high-pressure situations. Cruz had the opportunity to ask Sir Alex one question, and he chose to ask the Manchester United legend about handling pressure. Francisco Cruz: Firstly Sir Alex, I’m a big fan of yours. Alex Ferguson: Well good! Thank you. [laughing] I would like to ask you how you get your players to cope with the pressure of playing at the top level? Well, it’s an individual thing. Some players, some people can handle pressure, some can’t. It’s a fact of life. It’s not a prepared situation. It’s in the personality, in the character of a person to answer the pressure the best way they can. And everyone has a different way of handling the pressure. Of course, you know, the best way to handle pressure is to be successful.
