De Kock takes South Africa past 400 against England

Quinton de Kock hit an attacking half-century as South Africa went past 400 on the second day of the fourth and final Test against England at SuperSport Park on Saturday.

South Africa were 421 for eight at lunch, with De Kock unbeaten on 85, his highest Test score. He made his runs off 94 balls, hitting 12 fours and a six.
De Kock scored 60 of the 92 runs added for the loss of three wickets during the morning. He survived a sharp chance to Ben Stokes at gully off James Anderson when he was on 28, shortly before England struck two early blows.

Stuart Broad had Temba Bavuma caught behind for 35 in the fourth over of the day, ending a sixth wicket partnership of 62 with De Kock. In the next over James Anderson trapped Kagiso Rabada leg before wicket without scoring.

The left-handed De Kock, though, batted confidently and found a determined partner in Kyle Abbott in an eighth wicket stand of 50.

Both Abbott and De Kock hit sixes off Moeen Ali shortly before Abbott was leg before to Ben Stokes.

Dane Piedt then helped him add an unbeaten 35 runs for the ninth wicket.
