Eto’o wants to raise his game

Anzhi striker Samuel Eto’o is not playing at his best and wants to improve, Anzhi coach Guus Hiddink has said. Triple Champions League winner Eto’o has not scored in the four games he has played in 2012, against a record of eight goals in 11 games for Anzhi in 2011. “I don\'t want just to focus on Samuel because there are other players who can be more productive as well, but he himself likes to be more productive,” Hiddink said. Former Anzhi coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev accused Hiddink’s team of being “toothless” in attack Thursday, and the Dutchman appeared to concede that his team could improve in that respect. “We are well organized defensively, we can play with the ball, but we must be more productive in the area,” he said. In seven Russian Premier League games since Hiddink’s arrival in February, Anzhi have scored five goals and conceded three, giving the team the best defensive record in the league in 2012. Eto’o, 31, joined Anzhi in August 2011, where he is believed to be the world’s highest-paid player. Eto’o has scored 53 times in 109 international appearances for Cameroon, making him the country’s top scorer of all time.
