London - Arabstoday
The long wait came to an end in Germany as the Women’s Bundesliga got under way once more, albeit with only four teams involved. The remaining fixtures were rescheduled due to Germany’s participation at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Japan 2012. In Denmark, Brondby cemented their place at the top of the table, while in Sweden Ramona Bachmann and Anja Mittag are in a rich vein of form. FIFA.com rounds up all the latest action from Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Spain. Germany: Potsdam off to a flying start Turbine Potsdam made a vigourous start to their title defence by brushing aside promoted outfit Sindelfingen 9-1 on the opening day of the new season. Keelin Winters, Patricia Hanebeck, Lisa Evans, Stefanie Mirlach, Natasa Andonova, Yuki Ogimi and Genoveva Anonma (two) found the net for the defending champions, while an own goal from Sindelfingen centre-back Tamar Dongus completed the nine-goal haul. By contrast, FFC Frankfurt found things much tougher in their opening match, eventually beating FF USV Jena 2-1. It was quite a feat given that Sven Kahlert’s side were outnumbered for most of the game after Saskia Bartusiak’s sending off in the 38th minute. Jena even took the lead in the first half thanks to a Susanne Utes strike, before Carolin Schiewe’s own goal brought the scores level in the second period. Simone Laudehr hit the winner for Frankfurt shortly before the final whistle. Sweden: Bachmann and Mittag fire Malmo to victory Swiss international striker Ramona Bachmann and her German counterpart Anja Mittag gave a further demonstration of how well they dovetail for Swedish champions LdB Malmo. The duo were both on target (Bachmann twice) against Kristianstad on Matchday 15, as Malmo notched their 13th win of the season to stay at the league summit. Hot on their heels are Tyreso, who kept in step with a 3-0 victory over Linkoping to remain just two points behind. Line Roddik-Hansen, Caroline Seger and Marta got the goals. The opposite end of the table is likewise unchanged, with AIK Fotball (ten points) and Djurgarden IF DFF (nine) occupying the bottom two places. Djurgarden’s 2-1 reverse against Jitex was their twelfth defeat of the season, while AIK managed a 1-1 draw against third-placed Vittsjo. The top three: LdB FC Malmo (39 points), Tyreso FF (37), Vittsjo GIK (29) Denmark: Brondby pull away In Denmark, defending champions Brondby continued their seemingly unstoppable winning streak with a dominant 4-0 victory over Boldklubben 1913 on matchday 5. In the chasing pack, Taatstrup slipped to third after being held 1-1 against bottom club Odense BK. They were leapfrogged by Fortuna Hjorring, who routed Skovbakken 5-0. The top three: Brondby IF (15), Fortuna Hjorring (12), Taastrup FC (11) Spain: Barcelona slip up on opening day Last weekend witnessed the start of the new campaign in the Women’s Primera Division in Spain. Defending champions Barcelona got off to a rocky start with a 2-0 defeat against RCD Espanyol, while San Gabriel likewise lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid. Athletic Club recorded the biggest win of the matchday with a 5-0 triumph over SD Lagunak, but Sporting de Huelva and Sevilla could not find the net as their encounter finished goalless. The top three: Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid, RCD Espanyol (all with 3) From : Fifa
