National media members were treated to a live screening of the Formula One Grande Premio Petrobras Do Brasil 2012 on Sunday (November 25) at Motorox Café in Budaiya. The event was organised by Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) Media and Public Relations Department, with the aim of strengthening relations between the national Press and “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”. Those in attendance enjoyed an eventful race that marked the end to the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship. McLaren-Mercedes ace Jenson Button claimed first place and was joined on the podium by the Ferrari tandem of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The night’s biggest winner, however, was Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, who was classified sixth overall to claim just enough points to secure the F1 Drivers World title for the third year in a row. At the end of the screening, the media members present had a chance to win valuable prizes in a raffle draw. The prizes were courtesy of BIC, and they included vouchers for arrive-and-drive sessions at the circuit’s world-class VIVA Karting Track and to exclusive passenger rides, and gift vouchers that can be used to purchase official Formula One merchandise at the BIC Welcome Centre in Sakhir. BIC Media and Public Relations Executive Mohamed Shareeda facilitated the draw. Among the winners were Awab Hilal, Mai Al Khatib, Aymen Ali, Ahmed Suhail, Ali Haji, Nora Cassandra, Shaker Mohammed Hassan and Yousef Shareeda. Shareeda thanked all those who were on hand and for all the support given by the national media throughout the 2012 Formula One season. Shareeda also informed the media members that the 2013 campaign is scheduled to begin in Australia on March 17 of next year. For more information on BIC activities, visit the circuit’s official website on www.bahraingp.com or call the circuit hotline on +973-17-450000.
