New father Hunter Mahan has withdrawn from this week\'s World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational to be with his wife and baby daughter but will play in next week\'s PGA Championship. Mahan led last week\'s PGA Canadian Open after 36 holes but withdrew just before his scheduled third-round start and flew home to Dallas to be with his wife Kandi, who gave birth to daughter Zoe early Sunday morning. \"I have elected to officially withdraw myself from the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational so that I can take the opportunity to spend this precious first week at home with Zoe,\" 31-year-old Mahan said in a statement. \"I would like to thank the PGA Tour for supporting my decision not to play this week.\" Fellow American Brandt Snedeker took the Canadian Open title and thanked baby Zoe for pulling Mahan away to allow him the chance to win. Mahan, who won his first WGC title at the Firestone Country Club event in 2010, was not replaced in the invitational field. Source: AFP
