Pirelli hit back at Alonso

Pirelli have reportedly hit back at Ferrari\'s Fernando Alonso after the two-time world champion became the latest driver to criticise their tyres. After qualifying on Saturday sixth for the Korean Grand Prix, Alonso told reporters that drivers were not able to push to the maximum because of the tyres, which critics say are too fragile. An unamused Paul Hembery, Pirelli motorsport director, fired back: \"Of course Alonso is one of the great F1 drivers, so to hear such comments is disappointing and below the standards you would expect from such a champion. \"I can only suggest he goes to ask the soon-to-be four-times champion (Sebastian Vettel) how to get the best from the same tyres,\" he was quoted as saying by the BBC. Pirelli changed the design of their tyres following a series of dramatic tyre failures at the British Grand Prix in June, after which drivers had threatened to boycott the German Grand Prix if the problem was not solved. However drivers have continued to voice their displeasure at the tyres for not being durable enough. Source: AFP
