Argentina fly-half Nicolas Sanchez has left European champions Toulon to get ready for his wedding in May and to prepare for the World Cup, he told AFP on Sunday.
Sanchez joined the French and European champions in October as an injury replacement for Frederic Michalak.
But after the latter returned to action on Saturday in the 34-24 defeat at home to Toulouse, Sanchez was no longer available for Top 14 action.
He could have continued to turn out for Toulon in the European Rugby Champions Cup -- the champions hosts Wasps in the quarter-finals next weekend -- but he said he preferred to return home.
After three seasons at Bordeaux-Begles, where he struggled to hold down a first-team place, Sanchez really blossomed at Toulon where he quickly established himself in the starting XV.
He played 15 matches for Toulon, starting 12 of them.
"I'm obviously disappointed to be leaving just before the decisive matches at the end of the season but I'll take some happy memories with me," Sanchez told AFP.
"It's been my best club experience, that's for sure. I've had five incredible months. I came to Toulon with the main challenge being to learn.
"I didn't think I'd play much so I'm delighted to have been able to do so in this great team.
"Being able to come to Toulon and succeed was very important for me."
Sanchez will get married in May before beginning preparations with the Pumas for the World Cup in September and October.
