Paul Scholes garnered more than twice the vote of any other player to win ManUtd.com\'s Man of the Match award for his performance against Aston Villa on Sunday. Wayne Rooney may have found the net twice to help the Reds to a 4-0 victory, but it was Scholes who pulled all the strings from his position in the centre of midfield. The 37-year-old completed an impressive 94 per cent of his 67 passes as he dictated the pace of the game and sprayed the ball around the pitch. He also let fly with four attempts on goal (one on target), including an outrageous volley that brought back memories of his spectacular strike against Bradford City in 2000. Defensively, he missed more tackles than he made, but he showed an impressive willingness to get involved in the \"ugly\" side of the game. Speaking after the match, United manager Sir Alex said of Scholes\' masterclass: \"It was a great performance from Paul. He dictates the rhythm of the game and is just a fantastic player.\" Opposition boss Alex McLeish when even further, describing the midfielder as \"a genius\". Scholes\' strongest challenge in the voting stakes came from Ecaudor winger Antonio Valencia, who tormented Villa left-back Eric Lichaj all afternoon. Valencia set up the Reds\' third goal and created five other scoring chances, but that was only enough to take second place in our poll. The top prize belongs (again) to Scholesy.
