Striker may do time in game-fixing case

A Turkish prosecutor says he is seeking a prison term of up to three years for a Nigerian soccer player allegedly involved in a game-rigging scheme. Emmanuel Emenike, a former striker for the Fenerbahce football team, is accused in a case in which dozens of people were arrested, including the chairman of the team, Today\'s Zaman reported Tuesday. Emenike has been free since testifying earlier this year. He played for Turkish Super League champion team Fenerbahce for less than two months last year before joining Russia\'s Spartak Moscow. Fenerbahce Chairman Aziz Yildirim has been sentenced to six years and three months in prison after being convicted for creating and managing a criminal organization and for rigging football matches. Two other team officials were convicted of match fixing and membership in a criminal organization. Some 93 persons were charged in the case.
