The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed pitcher Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation of the left shoulder, the team said Monday. Lilly -- who missed the first eight games of the season for LA because of a stiff neck -- went on to post a 5-0 record in his first seven starts. In his most recent start on May 23, Lilly gave up eight runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks, a performance that raised his ERA to 3.14. No MRI was taken and Lilly has been taking anti-inflammatory medication following a cortisone shot, mlb.com reported. The left-hander said he hopes he\'ll be able to throw again by the end of the week. \"If that\'s the case, we\'re feeling it\'s short-term,\" said manager Don Mattingly. \"He\'s had stuff before, and it sounds like something he caught early. In the past he would have thrown another game with it.\" The Dodgers recalled pitcher Michael Antonini from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Lilly\'s spot on the roster Monday but will replace Antononi with Nathan Eovaldi, who will be called up from Double-A Chattanooga to start Tuesday in place of Lilly against the Milwaukee Brewers.
