President of the International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS), Geoff Smedley on Saturday said that Turkey made important progress in hosting international events in recent times. Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Smedley stressed that they saw Turkey's progress with every event held. "International championships hosted in Turkey play an important role in developing youth with mental disabilities," Smedley underlined. "To date, we (INAS) held three separate championships in Turkey. The fourth one will take place in Istanbul. The European Indoor Athletics Championships to be hosted in Istanbul are very crucial for us," Smedley also said. From AFP
