The 21st Cairo International Children’s Film Festival opened yesterday, 23 March, at the Cairo Opera House and will be ongoing until 30 March. The festival opened with the Dutch film Fuschia the Mini-Witch and honoured Palestinian filmmaker Rashid Mashharawy as well as Egyptian actors Hanan Turk, Hany Ramzy and Karim Abdel Aziz. The festival, which is organised by the Ministry of Culture, is hosting 68 countries this year with Greece as its guest of honour. This year 21 films are participating in the feature and short film section, while 54 films are participating in the animated film section. Some 20 films will be competing in the documentary film category.
