China "monitored" US B-52 bomber flights in its newly-declared air defence identification zone, the defence ministry said Wednesday. The Pentagon said it did not comply with China's demand for aircraft in the area to file flight plans, but Beijing's defence ministry said in a statement faxed to AFP: "The Chinese military monitored the entire process, carried out identification in a timely manner, and ascertained the type of US aircraft."
