Hurricane Odile strengthens to powerful category 3 storm

Hurricane Odile became an impressive category three storm on Sunday, dumping heavy rains as it swirled off Mexico's Pacific Coast.
Winds blew at 193 kilometers (120 miles) per hour, the US National Hurricane Center said in its 0600 GMT bulletin. It was located about 280 kilometers west-southwest of Manzanillo as it moved north-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.
