Fifty seven vessels transited the Suez Canal in both directions on Tuesday, five days after the official opening of the آew Suez Canal.
The north-bound convoy included 29 ships carrying about 1.4 million tons, a statement by the Suez Canal Authority.
The south-bound convoy included 28 vessels carrying about 1.7 million tons, the statement added.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated Thursday the New Suez Canal in a great celebration attended by world leaders.
