Manama - Bna
The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) continued to bolster its international reputation as a centre of excellence for alternative dispute resolution following the completion of a three-day mediation workshop for leading lawyers, judges and mediators in cooperation with the Moroccan Bar Association in Rabat, Morocco earlier this month. The workshop provided training for 30 lawyers, judges and mediators from across Morocco on the skills and techniques for successful mediation as a means of alternative dispute resolution along with an introduction to the ADR services and state-of-the-art facilities available at BCDR-AAA. Speaking after the event, Youssef Al-Flah, MBA Coordinator, said: “it is important that we develop the best international standards in mediation. The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution is a recognized, regional leader in the provision of ADR services therefore we are grateful for their support and insight in the field of mediation. “We see this as just the beginning for us, we hope to continue this partnership as we, the Moroccan Bar Association, seek to significantly increase awareness of the merits of ADR amongst businesses, government organizations and individuals. And obviously, the provision of highly reputable ADR services is always an attraction for foreign investors”. James MacPherson, CEO, and Ali Al Aradi, Chief Registrar and Assistant Chief Executive Mediation, attended from BCDR-AAA. Speaking during the workshop Ali Al Aradi said: “It’s a great opportunity to come to Rabat and create strong business links with our Moroccan counterparts that will continue to be fostered in the future. It is also demonstrates the Chamber’s growing international reputation to be invited by the Moroccan Bar Association to provide this course. The BCDR-AAA provides professional and efficient approach to dispute resolution, based on the highest international standards, bolstered by the world’s only free arbitration zone, which can prevent arbitration awards from a challenge in the domestic courts. We are very happy to have the opportunity to share our experience here in Morocco”. The training is part of BCDR-AAA’s strategy to forge partnerships across the region and internationally. The chamber is building regional and international partnerships with ADR centres around the world, along with leading business institutions and other legal forums in order to share international best practice, educate on the merits of mediation as an alternative to the potentially lengthy and costly litigation process, and to create opportunities for further interaction. During their visit, James MacPherson and Ali Al Aradi met Mohammed Aldime, leader of the Rabat Bar Association, Mohammed Chmaou, Secretary General of the Rabat Young Lawyer’s Association, Mohamed Khedraoui, Head of the Chief Justice Cabinet and Abderahmane Mesbahi, Vice President of the Hassania Judicial Association and Head of the Commercial Chamber at the Supreme Court.
