Prince Salman bin Hamad (C)
Manama - BNA

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today visited the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) where he met with BCCI's Chairman, Khalid Almoayed, and business leaders from the Kingdom.
His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of continuing to build on Bahrain's robust and resilient economy, calling on all institutions to further strengthen coordination and collaboration in order to contribute to the Kingdom's programme of sustainable economic development, led by His Majesty King Hamad.
His Royal Highness stressed the importance of the essential components of economic diversification, in particular, investing in sustainable industries that conserve land and energy resources.
In terms of Bahrain’s competiveness, His Royal Highness went on to echo His Royal Highness the Prime Minister's remarks regarding taking advantage of the Kingdom’s regulatory environment to further develop the industrial sector, and encouraged private companies to expand operations across the region and increase regional exports.
His Royal Highness also noted the ongoing development of the Kingdom's infrastructure, and highlighted recent steps aimed at facilitating the recommencement of stalled real estate projects. His Royal Highness highlighted a series of initiatives and steps directly related to the private sector, including efforts to prevent traffic congestion at the King Fahd Causeway. His Royal Highness added that the development of a new service lane would commence shortly to ensure an efficient flow of goods between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
His Royal Highness encouraged the private sector to continue to capitalise on the Kingdom's links with major trading nations, and further enhance its reputation as a regional hub for trade and investment. He added that the government’s direct engagement with the sector would continue to help develop policies aimed at further strengthening the role of the private sector.
Turning to the importance of entrepreneurship, His Royal Highness outlined the Kingdom's commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and noted the role played by various institutions, such as Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank and the Bahrain Business Incubator Centre (BBIC).
In conclusion, His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of focusing on effective rules and regulations that develop key sectors and encourage start-ups. His Royal Highness welcomed the role that the BCCI plays in strengthening the private sector and expressed his best wishes to BCCI's Board members in carrying out their duties.
