Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim bin Fadhl Al-Buainain received Bahrain Internet Exchange (BIX)'s Board of Directors Chairman Brigadier Mansour Mohammed Al-Hajeri and BIX Executive Director Shaima Al-Hamid.
The Minister explored ways and means of boosting cooperation with the BIX and topics of mutual interest, praising the BIX efforts in development its services aimed meet the needs of Government sector, commercial, financial and economic institutions and individuals and also serve sustainable development in line with the Kingdom's Economic Vision2030.
The Minister stressed great significance of the telecommunications sector in consolidating friendship and cooperation relations between peoples, the extending of bridges of communication between cultures, civilisations and religions, urging for more international cooperation in optimization of benefits from the internet services and information technology in spreading the culture of peace, tolerance, curbing the dangers of its abuse in spreading extremism, violence, terrorism, for the sake of humanity's welfare, interest and security.
Brigadier Al-Hajeri said that the BIX provides secure, speedy, high quality services to telecommunication providers that boost the activities of Government and business sector, encourage local digital content, speedy data and information transfer at competitive rates, according to latest technological systems, especially after the installation of Tata International Company's sea cable.
and BIX Executive Director Shaima Al-Hamid presented an overview of the BIX activities, services and projects, adding that the installation of the nautical cable represents a strong push forward to the national broadband network through the provision of modern, speedy, low cost telecommunications network and application of best international standards in terms of safety and security as well as health and eco-conservation which boosts the goals of the Third National Telecommunications Plan.
The meeting was attended by Jassim Al-Hassan the Deputy Executive Director of BIX; and, Abdul-Mon'im Al-Eid and advisor at the BIX.
