
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received at its headquarters a delegation from Dubai World Central.
The delegation sought to learn about best practices adopted by DEWA in organisational excellence. The the visit is part of DEWA’s efforts to benchmark and share expertise and experiences with other organisations, based on its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
"In line with the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to establish excellence, DEWA is committed to promoting the foundations of sustainable excellence through the adoption of global best practices in various operations. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to promote the culture of excellence amongst all government departments operating in Dubai," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of DEWA.
"We apply the highest international standards in terms of quality and excellence. We focus on organisational excellence as a culture rooted in all our sectors and our operations, as we adopt and apply local and international concepts of excellence, such as the Dubai Government Excellence Programme and the European excellence model, the European Framework for Quality Management, and other standards of excellence. We are pleased to share our experiences in this area with Dubai World Central to contribute to the promotion of Dubai’s leading position globally in the field of excellence."
The delegation was led chaired by Majid Al Joker, Majed Al Joker, Senior Vice President of Operations at DWC. The delegation was received by DEWA’s Business Excellence department, which included Dr. Mohammad Farhan, Senior Manager of Corporate Excellence, and Shamma Lootah , Manager of Awareness and Building Capabilities, Reem Al Sukkar, Manager of the Excellence Bank, and Mahmood Al Awadi, Manager of nternal Organisational Competitiveness and Zainab Juma, Manager of Business Improvements and Standards.
The meeting began with a presentation on DEWA’s approach to excellence, and the methodology of the Business Excellence department was reviewed based DGEP. The Business Excellence department presented the selection criteria for choosing nominees and how to prepare nominations for other excellence categories and the mechanisms for qualifying employees for excellence. They also reviewed DEWA’s internal awards, the Excellence Bank and other matters.
The delegation was happy with the review of best practices and benchmarking with DEWA’s excellence programmes. This promotes the exchange of expertise and experiences between the two institutions. The delegation thanked DEWA and commended the work of the Business Excellence department to spread awareness and knowledge about Organisational Excellence amongst all staff at DEWA.
