Ducab, the UAE-based leading manufacturer of high-quality cables and cabling products, has announced a new project with JOPETWIL Industrial Company, a subsidiary of Control Contracting and Trading Co., on the Jack-Up Barge ‘JOPETWIL 300'. This project marks Ducab's first marine offshore project in Abu Dhabi, and features cables from Ducab's MarineBICC product lines.
Ducab's MarineBICC products are customised for the marine and offshore industry, and are approved by the American Bureau of Shipping, ABS, DET Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) and Lloyds Register. These high-quality and long-life cables are suitable for extreme temperatures and moisture, and are braided for extra protection, without affecting the flexibility of the cable. In order to improve fire safety onboard ships, barges, and offshore platforms, the MarineBICC product range is also fire-safety-certified, fire-retardant and with low smoke emission.
Mohammed A. Al Mutawa, Chief Commercial Officer, Ducab, said, "Our reputation and achievements in the oil and gas sector have led us to venture into new industries such as marine and offshore. We are proud that our market-leading MarineBICC fire performance cables have been selected after careful comparison for their certified adherence to globally recognised standards coupled with the expert knowledge and experience in the industry that Ducab offers. MarineBICC cables are designed to have a long life, and proven effectiveness in extreme conditions, suitable to this significant project and we look forward to new prospects in and beyond the Middle East region."
Saleh Muqattash, CEO of CCTC, said, "CCTC puts emphasis on providing quality service with every project we deliver which begins right from the crucial design stage. We look forward to working with Ducab on this unique project and are assured that the quality, safety, and longevity of the product will be a significant asset to the JOPETWIL 300."
The ‘JOPETWIL 300' Jack Up Barge is equipped with a hydraulic jacking system with four cylindrical legs and is capable of working in water depths of up to 40 meters. Ducab will provide cables to upgrade the barge to accommodate more personnel on board. The renovations will more than double the capacity accommodating 270 personnel on board, up from the previous capacity of a 100.
