Egyptian-US foundation organizes huge economic conference in October

The Egyptian American Community Foundation will organize a large conference in Cairo on October 27 under the theme of Egyptian expatriates' participation in economic development in Egypt.

In statements to MENA on Saturday, Abed Elkeshk, the foundation's Vice President and the executive vice president of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, said the conference is meant to encourage Egyptians living abroad to crutch the national economy, especially in the industrial, medical, pharmaceutical, tourism, agricultural and educational domains.

Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mameesh is invited to attend the conference along with representatives from the ministries of trade, industry and investment, he said.

Also, a cluster of artists and heavyweight social figures will attend the event, he said.

The conference is the first of its kind in Egypt.

During the conference, Egyptian government officials will hold intensive talks with businessmen living abroad, especially in the US, he said.

Several projects will be tackled during the conference, including establishing a cancer treatment center, biotechnology factory and cement factory, he said.

If the conference succeeds, the gathering will be organized annually, he said.
