Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab
Cairo - MENA

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Tuesday reviewed a social housing project meant to secure one million residential units for youth and limited-income brackets.
In a meeting with his minister of housing, Moustafa Madbouli, the premier discussed the implementation of the mega housing project, the biggest to be established in the Middle East region.
The project aims to build one million units across Egypt at an estimated cost of 150 billion pounds, Madbouli said.
He touched upon a social housing law, which stipulates that a social housing fund contribute to housing projects, thus easing the burden on the country.
The first phase includes the building of 243,000 units, the minister said, adding that work already started in this phase.
Madbouli reviewed a detailed report on units that have already been established and others under construction.
A documentary on the project was also shown during the meeting.
The premier stressed the importance to perfectly maintain the residential units to be built as part of the project.
He urged the Sports Ministry to secure lands to establish court yards around those units.
Mahlab said he expects a monthly follow up report on the project.
